AP Biology essays – answer all 5
Remember each question is worth 10 points.
1. Discuss the alternation of generation of a flowering plant.
2. Trace the pathway in a flowering plant as the water moves from the soil through the tissues of the root, stem, and leaves to the atmosphere. Explain the mechanisms involved in conducting water through these tissues.
3. Explain what occurs during the Krebs (citric acid) cycle and electron transport by describing the following
a. The location of the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain in the mitochondria
b. The cyclic nature of the reactions in the Krebs
c. The production of ATP and reduced coenzymes during the cycle
d. The chemiosmotic production of ATP during electron transport.
4. Describe the chemical composition and configuration of enzymes and discuss the factors that modify enzyme regulation and/or function.
5. Pick one topic that you have learned during the first nine weeks of AP Biology (must be a topic not included in Questions 1-4). First, form a question of that topic (10 point question like questions 1-4). Second, answer the question.
