11/1/10 - 11/5/10 - To Kill A Mockingbird Test on Monday. No School Tuesday. "Writing Wednesday" - review sentence fragments and create a complete plan. Click here for the prompt. Read pp 887 - 889 in your text book and copy down the characters on p889 in your notes. Create a vocabulary chart for the ten "words to know" on p893. Take notes on The Epic. Read pp893 - 914 in your text book. Answer the "think critically" questions on p914. Vocabulary Test #1.
11/8/10 - 11/12/10 - Finish reading excerpts from The Odyssey in your text book. "Writing Wednesday" Create a vocabulary chart for the 15 "words to know" on p942 in your text book. Vocabulary Test #2.
11/15/10 - 11/19/10 - Complete FINDS packet related to the research you find on your assigned god/goddess. Submit a citations page to Ms. Smoot's dropbox, and a ComicLife presentation to Ms. Shartrand's dropbox. "Writing Wednesday" Finish reading The Odyssey. Answer "think critically" questions on p965. The Odyssey Test.
11/22/10 - 11/26/10 - The Odyssey Test. Vocabulary Test #3 on Tuesday. No school Wednesday - Friday.
11/28/10 - 12/3/10 - Take notes on the elements of drama. Read background on William Shakespeare in your text book. Read Act I of Romeo and Juliet. Write down each main event as you read. Complete Think Critically questions on p1019. Vocabulary Test #4.
12/6/10 - 12/10/10 - Read Acts II and III of Romeo and Juliet. Continue writing down each main event as you read. Complete Think Critically questions on p 1043 & p1071. "Writing Wednesday" Vocabulary test #5
12/13/10 - 12/17/10 - Finish reading Romeo and Juliet. Complete "Think Critically" questions. Romeo and Juliet Test. Vocabulary Test #6.
12/20/10 - 12/31/10 - WINTER BREAK - NO SCHOOL
1/3/11 - 1/7/11 - Take notes on types of non-fiction. Read the historical account of "The Story Behind Cask of Amontillado" and the internet article, "Romeo and Juliet are Palestinian and Jewish". Read "Author Study" about Sandra Cisneros on p 694 and create an outline detailing the most important facts about her life. Read the personal essay, "Only Daughter". On same paper as outline, answer #1 and comprehension check, then #3-5 on p699 followed by the five "vocabulary in action" questions on p700. Read "House on Mango Street" excerpt in Interactive Reader. Complete all "pause and reflect" questions. Read the book review on p710 and the author's introduction on p711. Answer "Think Critically" questions on a seaparate piece of paper. "Writing Wednesday" - write your own vignette. Read Maya Angelou Author study on p426. Create a vocabulary chart for the ten "words to know" on p480. Read "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" in your Interactive Reader and complete all "Pause and Reflect" questions. Read and analyze the poem, "Caged Bird". Complete the "Think Critically" questions on p490. Vocabulary test #7.
