1/23/12 - 1/27/12 - Read background information on Anlgo-Saxons and Beowulf. Copy down characteristics of an epic, leaving room for examples from Beowulf. After reading Beowulf's speech to Hrothgar, create a resume from Beowulf's perspective. Then, create your own resume. Click here for a sample resume. Read through the section entitle "Battle with Grendel's Mother" in the excerpt of Beowulf from our textbook (pp33 - 51) , noting examples from the epic poem that fall into the characteristics you copied down.
