COURSE DESCRIPTION: This semester course provides a general overview of World History. We will be exploring the cultural, geographical, economic and technological changes that have taken place in the world and that have helped shape guide mankind.
GENERAL COURSE GOALS:
* To help students understand and appreciate the nature of the various cultures of the world and to see how important aspects of these cultures have developed over time.
* To impress the importance of world cultures and how many of these have contributed to our own culture and continue to do so presently.
* To provide students with an understanding of change as a condition of human society, regardless of nationality, language, religion, geography, ethnicity or creed.
* To emphasize the importance of tolerance of diversity in others through the exploration of the various cultures of the world, their customs, traditions and way of life.
* To provide help in the development of critical thinking and study skill techniques required for success in a challenging and highly competitive global society.
