Students:  Did you know that, in order to graduate, all students are required to earn a 300 on the 10th Grade FCAT Writing test given in February?

The test has both an essay component - persuasive or expository - and a multiple choice component.

Absent?

See me during independent work time for make-up work.

  • If you are absent for more than one day, you will need to come in between 7:00 and 7:15 to discuss what you missed.
  • You have two days for every day you were absent (not including the day you return) to turn in any work from an absence, but it is YOUR responsibility to get your work in enough time to meet your deadline.   No make up work will be accepted beyond your deadline.

Word Parts:

What are word parts?  Smaller parts of words that have individual meaning, called prefixes (at the beginning of a word, suffixes (at the end of a word) and roots (which are the base of the word).  Go to this site to check out some common word parts that you have probably seen before.

Did you know a single word can have more than one word part?  It is common for words to have more than one suffix.

Why is this important to you?  Often, using context clues to determine word meaning is just not possible.  Knowing the word parts is what might help you figure out the probable meaning of a word when you have no other resource.
