Sample Question:

How does Juliet respond when her mother asks her to consider marrying

Paris?  Use details and information from the story to support your answer.

Sample Response:

Juliet responds in a polite, yet negative manner.  Juliet says that marriage is “an honor that I dream not of.”  In other words, she honors the unity of marriage, but it is not for her.  Similarly, Juliet says, “I’ll look to like, if looking liking move.”  She will humor her mother and try to like Paris.   She cannot make herself love him, but maybe just looking at him will help her to like him.  Juliet is only thirteen years old, so she has not thought about marriage a great deal.  Juliet’s comments and age suggest she does not want to marry Paris.
