TEACHER / PARENT / STUDENT AGREEMENT

As a professionally trained educator, I pledge to do everything possible to educate your child. My efforts will only be successful, however, if the students in my charge are willing to do their best towards mastering the material presented.

In order to achieve this mastery, the STUDENT must do the following:

1. Be attentive and involved in class, take notes and do practice problems including daily warm-up, follow all school rules and regulations, attend school regularly and on-time, and refrain from interfering with the education of others.

2. Do assignments completely. No partial credit is given for homework. Students must show all their work. Nothing is assigned that I have not taught. I show you where to find examples in the book. They are not graded on accuracy but on COMPLETION.   ALL WORK/FORMULAS MUST BE SHOWN.  If you do not know how to do a problem, YOU MUST THEN RE-WRITE THE NOTES AND EXAMPLES I GAVE IN CLASS 5 TIMES.  This will help you understand.  Repetetion and practice is the key to success in math.  If you have not taken notes in class, you can't possibly begin to understand how to do it.  Taking notes is copying.  You are capable of copying.

3. Seek assistance when he/she feels unsure of class material. FREE MATH TURORING IS AVAILABLE EVERY MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL IN ROOM 267 – NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY.

4. Regularly use a planner to record upcoming assignments, tests or projects; keep track of grades and progress in class

5. Be responsible for obtaining, completing, and submitting make-up work or notes upon returning from an absence. STUDENTS HAVE TWO DAYS UPON THEIR RETURN TO SCHOOL TO HAND IN MAKE-UP WORK. THIS IS BROWARD COUNY’S RULE. NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.

In order to ensure fulfillment of the above mentioned points, PARENTS must agree to do the following:

1. Remain aware of their child’s progress by regularly checking Parent Internet Viewer online for updated grades Go to http://www.monarchknights.com, click on Pinnacle Viewer. You will need your child’s school ID and their birth date. Scroll down to Go to the Internet Viewer and click. You can also sign up for daily and weekly emails that can be automatically sent to you with your child’s current grades. You can check their grades/attendance 24/7.

2. Check daily homework. All my assignments can be found on my webpage. Go to http://www.monarchknights.com, teacher webpages, math, novik, class.   Assignments must be complete.   No partial credit is given for homework. Students must show all their work. Nothing is assigned that I have not taught. I also show them where to find examples in the book. They are not graded on accuracy but on COMPLETION.   ALL WORK/FORMULAS MUST BE SHOWN.  If they do not know how to do a problem, they MUST THEN RE-WRITE THE NOTES AND EXAMPLES I GAVE IN CLASS 5 TIMES.  This will help them understand.  Repetetion and practice is the key to success in math.  If they have not taken notes in class, they can't possibly begin to understand how to do it.  Taking notes is copying and is essential to understanding the material.

3. Provide a climate in the home that supports education and sets high expectations

4. Be aware of pre-advertised county dates regarding issuance of report cards, interim reports, early release days or any other information which helps keep track of their child’s progress

5. Make periodic contact with teacher / counselor / administrator in order to remain aware of their child’s academic progress, social development and behavior during the school year

6. Be aware of and support county and school rules and regulations concerning conduct, dress code, attendance and all other areas of student’s responsibilities and rights (refer to Code of Student Conduct handbook)

7. Encourage good attendance and on-time arrival to classes. Inform the school to excuse absences in a timely fashion. Students have two days to hand in their make-up work if they are absent.
