Integrated Mathematics III

TEXTBOOKS: Blitzer “Algebra and Trigonometry”

COURSE CONTENT:
Integrated Math 3 is designed to help students develop strong critical thinking skills. Topics include: sets, geometry, equations and inequalities, functions and graphs, factoring/solving quadratic equations, polynomial/rational functions, system of equations/inequalities, sequences and series, measures of central tendency and dispersion.

MATERIALS:
• Mechanical pencil (extra lead) or 3 sharpened pencils.
• Loose leaf paper and/or 3-ring binder and/or notebook.
• Scientific Calculator (TI30XS MultiView will suffice).

*** Donations of tissues, Expo markers and hand sanitizer are greatly appreciated.

CLASS RULES:
• ID badges must be worn at all times.
• Stay in your assigned seat or area.
• Wait to be recognized before speaking.
• No food, drinks or gum are allowed in the classroom.
• Use the laptop only when instructed and for the assigned work.
• All cell phones and Ipods must be turned off and put away.

CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK:
This class requires a lot of work and studying. You need to be focused and on task, take notes in class, do your homework and practice working/studying the examples in your notes and in your text if applicable. Always keep in mind that you are responsible for everything stated/written/illustrated on the board in class and everything in the text if applicable. If no specific assignment is given, then every day the assignment is to review. When absent, it is ESSENTIAL that you get the notes and uderstand the material that was taught during class.

BEFORE SCHOOL TUTORING/AFTER-SCHOOL TEST MAKE UPS:
I will be available on Thursday from 2:45 PM – 3:45 PM each week to make up missed tests and to tutor.

 

GRADING POLICY FOR EACH QUARTER:
• Tests: 50%
• Quizzes: 25%
• Class work: 15% All you have to do is pay attention and show effort to earn full credit.
• You will earn a zero each day you choose not to do the class work or not be on task.
• Homework Grade: 10% Homework must show appropriate calculations. Calculations must be written in an organized manner that show the steps used to arrive at the solution. Explanations must be neatly written using full sentences, correct spelling and appropriate grammar. Late homework will not be accepted.
*** You must attempt all homework problems. Doing half of the homework results in a zero, not a 50.
