Photograph Manipulation 2

Aging Photo, Adding Comic Effects, Zombie Effect

Digital Design 1

Aging Photo Project

1.             Open a new file in Photoshop. 6 X 6 inches tall, RGB, 78 pixels, white background.

2.             Open the digital headshot photo of yourself. Remember, you were supposed to take it along with the others when you used the digital cameraÉ

3.             It is time to face your futureÉ Unfortunately, all the plastic surgeons, hair replacement products, and youth-promising cosmetics have been banned from the world and you must embrace the concept of aging gracefully. It is your task to take the digital photo of yourself and make yourself about 60 years older.

4.             You may use wigs or balding men photos to cut out parts and blend them with your photo. You can also select your hair and change to color to gray by edit to fill (mode is color). You can shorten it by using the cloning tool. Just remember to blend the new parts to try and match the shading of the digital photo. (Adjustments; levels, lightness/contrast)

5.             DonÕt forget to add some wrinkles, remember you are closing in on 80 years oldÉ

6.             Make the skin a little paler (lighter) because we donÕt spend lots of time in the sun (skin cancer you know). Move it onto the new file you created in step one. Adjust the size so it fits in the upper left portion of the page leaving plenty of room to write a short bio of yourself.

7.             When all is said and done, write a little autobiographical blurb of what youÕve done with your life, what you did after high school, if you had a family, what you did for a living, etc. Dream big! Should just take 5 or 6 sentencesÉ

8.             When done, add your name. Save it as a jpeg. Put it into the drop box.

Adding Comic Effects

1.             Open a photo of yourself. You can use either the headshot or the full body photo.

2.             Find comic/clipart features to add; hair, glasses, mustache, beard, tie, clown nose, feet, etc.

3.             Add the comic/clipart features to your photo.

4.             Save as jpeg and put into the drop box.

Zombie Effect

Zombie Eyes:

1. Open the headshot photo of yourself in Photoshop. Crop and zoom in as needed for this project.

2. Paint your eyes white.

3. Now select the Smudge tool. Make sure the Strength is somewhere below 50%.

4. Using the smudge tool, begin pushing in the darker color from the outside into the inside of the eye. So that it leads from color to the white. This will give the eye a rounded effect and look more convincing.

5. Do steps 2 through 5 with the other eye.

6. Choose a dark color the matches the lining of the eye. Select the Paint Brush tool, set the opacity to 30%, and then go over the lining of the eye a few times. (Use the smudge tool again on the lining of the eye if necessary so that it isn't too dark and obvious).

8. You're done with the eyes! You should now have a photo with zombie eyes!

9.         Use the burn tool and darken around the eyes.

Zombie Skin

1.         Add a new layer.

2.         Edit to fill; use Pattern, then select a pattern to fill in the new layer.

3.         Set the blend mode to Overlay. You may also want to reduce the opacity a little, too.

4.         Use the eraser tool and erase the pattern over parts of the image that are not skin depending on the image you chose.

5.         Go to Image to Adjustments and select Hue/Saturation. I chose a nice green hue, but go with what you likeÉ

6.         Lower the opacity of that layer.

You should now look a little gruesome. Save as a jpeg and put into the drop box.
