Hard Light on Fine Edges, Pointillism, Hard Impressionism

Hard Light on Fine Edges

1.         Open any photo.

2.         Duplicate the background layer.

3.         Go to Filters>Stylize>Fine Edges

4.         Copy the original background layer again and move it to the top of the layers palette.

5.         Name the top layer Hard Mix and change the blending mode to Hard Mix.

6.         Invert the Hard Mix layer and go to Image>Adjustments>Desaturate

7.         Set the Hard Mix Fill Opacity to 30%.

8.         Make another copy of the background (original) layer and drag it to the top of the layer palette.

9.         Name this layer to Hard Light and set the blending mode to Hard Light.

10.       Add a slight blur to the Hard Light layer. Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur

11.       Save as jpg, using the naming scheme LastName_AssignmentName

12.       Put the finished product in the drop box.

Pointillism

1.         Open a photo.

2.         Copy the background layer and invert it.

3.         Set the layer blend mode to Color Dodge and name that layer to Color Dodge.

4.         Copy the Color Dodge layer and name it Color Burn and set the blend mode to Color Burn. Invert the Color Burn layer.

5.         Choose from the top menu, View>Actual Pixels

6.         Add a new blank layer and set the mode to Dissolve. Name it Dissolve.

7.         Reduce the Opacity of the Dissolve layer to 30%.

8.         Set the foreground color to yellow and press the Opt key and Delete key to fill the layer with yellow.

9.         Copy the Dissolve layer and reduce the new layers opacity to 20% and name it Red. This should be the top layer. Change the foreground color to red and press the Opt and Delete keys.

10.       Copy the Dissolve layer and reduce the new layers opacity to 10% and name it Blue. This should now be the top layer. Change the foreground color to blue and press the Opt and Delete keys.

11.       Save as a jpeg. Use the proper naming procedure. LastName_AssignmentName

12.       Put the finished product into the drop box.

Hard Impressionism

1.         Open a photo.

2.         Duplicate the original layer.

3.         Name the duplicate layer, Name it Hard Mix and set the blend mode to Hard Mix. Reduce the Hard Mix layerŐs Fill Opacity to 75%.

4.         Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Set the Radius to 50 or above.

5.         Make another copy of the background or original layer and drag it to the top of the layers palette.

6.         Change the name of the new layer to Hard Light. Set the layers blend mode to Hard Light. Reduce the opacity to 50%.

7.         Invert the Hard Light layer.

8.         Duplicate the original layer and move it to the top of the layers palette.

9.         Change the new layer name to Color and set the blend mode to Color.

10.       Save as a jpeg and use the proper naming scheme; LastName_Assignment Name.

11.       Put the completed project in the drop box.
