Ultra Color, Color Gel, Powder Pastels

Ultra Color

1.         Open any photo.

2.         Duplicate the background layer.

3.         Change the blending mode of the duplicate layer to Hard Mix. Name the layer Hard Mix

4.         Invert the Hard Mix layer.

5.         Go to Image>Adjustments>Desaturate

6.         Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set the radius to between 20 and 200.

7.         Save as jpg, using the naming scheme LastName_AssignmentName

8.         Put the finished product in the drop box.

Color Gel

1.         Open a photo.

2.         Copy the background layer and name it Lighten.

3.         Set the layer blend mode to Lighten.

4.         Go to filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and use a low number for the radius.

5.         Duplicate the original layer again. Move it to the top of the layers palette.

6.         Change the blending mode to Exclusion. Name the layer Exclusion.

10.       Invert the Exclusion layer.

11.       Duplicate the original layer and drag it to the top of the layers palette stack.

12.       Change the name to Hard Mix and set the layer blend mode to Hard Mix.

13.       Reduce the FILL opacity to between 50% and 80%.

14.       Save as a jpeg. Use the proper naming procedure. LastName_AssignmentName

15.       Put the finished product into the drop box.

Powder Pastels

1.         Open a photo.

2.         Duplicate the original layer.

3.         Name the duplicate layer, Hue and set the layer blend mode to Hue.

4.         Invert the Hue layer.

5.         Change the Hue layerŐs opacity to 50%.

6.         Duplicate the Hue layer. Change the blending mode to Color Dodge and name the layer Color Dodge.

7.         Increase the Color Dodge layerŐs opacity to 100%.

8.         Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Use a radius from 3 to 5.

9.         Duplicate the Color Dodge layer. Change the layer blend mode to Pin Light.

10.       Name the layer Pin Light.

11.       Invert the Pin Light layer.

12.       Go to Image>Adjustments>Desaturate.

13.       Set the Fill opacity to 70%.

14.       Save as a jpeg and use the proper naming scheme; LastName_Assignment Name.

15.       Put the completed project in the drop box.
