Light
Pin light is a contrast increasing blend mode. It is a combination of Darken and Lighten modes.
1. Open any photo.
2. Duplicate the background layer.
3. Go to Image>Adjustments>Invert
4. Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur between 1 and 2
5. Set the blend mode to Pin Light.
6. Go to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges.
7. Save as jpg, using the naming scheme LastName_AssignmentName
8. Put the finished product in the drop box.

Hard
Light
This technique is best used for low contrast photos that donŐt need to look natural.
1. Open a photo.
2. Copy the background layer and name it Hard Light.
3. Set the blending mode to Hard Light.
4. Invert the Hard Light Layer; Image>Adjustments>Invert
5. Duplicate the Hard Light layer.
6. Name the copy to Hard Mix. Set the blending mode to Hard Mix. Reduce the opacity of the Hard Mix layer to 50% and the Fill to 50%.
7. Duplicate the Hard Mix layer and name it Color Burn.
8. Set the blend mode to Color Burn and set the opacity between 50% and 70%.
9. Blur the Hard Light layer; Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set the blur between 5 and 20.
10. Save as a jpeg. Use the proper naming procedure. LastName_AssignmentName
11. Put the finished product into the drop box.

Neon
Posterization
Posterization reduces a photo to a smaller number of tonal values.
1. Open a photo.
2. Add a new fill or adjustment layer from the bottom of the layers palette and select Posterize. Change the number in the dialog box and choose the one you like the best.
3. Set the layer blend mode to Linear Burn.
4. Copy the original layer and move the copy to the top of the layers list.
5. Change the blending mode to either Difference or Exclusion. You pick the one you like the best.
6. Add a Gaussian Blur, you decide.
7. Save as a jpeg and use the proper naming scheme; LastName_Assignment Name.
8. Put the completed project in the drop box.
