Fireworks Basic Tools/Techniques

This is an introduction to Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Fireworks. In many ways it is like Photoshop, but there are some differences, so you will need to perform some basic tasks using the tutorials provided on the http://broward.atomiclearning.com website. Remember, your login is 354112 (3541 and your grade level) and the password is al (AL in small letters).
Atomic Learning:
After logging in; click on Atomic Learning under Resources.
Click on the Our Tutorials tab.
Next to Show, select Mac.
Select Fireworks MX 2004 tutorials.
This lesson covers all the tutorials for A. Basic Tools / Techniques except #9 & #13 (skip them).
Watch each tutorial and go through the steps below. Two things to remember; always go back to the black pointer tool and, like in Photoshop, keep track of the layers in the layers palette.
1. Create a new document. (35 pts)
Width = 500 pixels Height = 500 pixels 72 Resolution Canvas = white
2. Import any image to the new document. (5 pts)
3. Modify the Canvas properties. After playing with the properties, be sure to reset the canvas size to 500 X 500 pixels. You may have to click off any images that may have become selected while changing the properties.
4. Create 2 basic shapes. (10 pts)
5. Create a triangle. (5 pts)
6. Create 1 star and 1 half circle. (10 pts)
7. Fill something with the paint bucket tool. Use a gradient or pattern instead of a solid color to fill the object. (5 pts)
8. Create an object using the pen tool. (5 pts)
9. Add text to the document. (5 pts)
10. Use the freeform tool to modify one of the objects. (5 pts)
11. Open a new image, crop it and move it to the new document. (5 pts)
12. Assign a blending mode to one of the objects. (5 pts)
13. Save as Your Last Name_Basic. (5 pts)
14. Put into Fuller Drop Box.
