Psychedelic Poster Effect and Scarface Poster Effect

Psychedelic Poster Effect

 

1.         Open an image you want to use for the psychedelic poster.

            Image>Mode>Grayscale.

 

2.         Image>Mode>Bitmap

            Set output resolution to 300.

            Choose Halftone Screen for method. Click OK.

            Set the Frequency to 20 lines/inch.

            Set the angle to 35.

            Set the shape to round. Click OK.

 

3.         Image>Mode>Grayscale

            Image>Mode>RGB Color

 

4.         Layer (top menu)>New Fill Layer>Solid Color

            Change the color to one you want to use for your psychedelic effect

            Change the blending mode to Lighten.

            Layer>Flatten Image

 

5.         Double-click the background layer and click ok.

            Layer (top menu)>New Fill Layer>Solid Color

            Change the color to contrast or go with the previous color you chose.

            Drag the image layer to the top of the layer list, so you can see the image.

Change the blending mode to either Darken or Overlay, or you may choose any blending mode to suit your liking.

 

6.         Using the marquee tool, create a thin border around the picture, you may be on either layer.

            Select>Inverse
            Edit>Fill          100% Normal Mode, foreground color.

 

7.         Using the marquee tool again, go inside the frame and make another selection.

            Choose a different foreground color. This will be the same color you will use for the text.

            Edit>Stroke     Outside, thickness is anything from 4 to 10.

            Deselect

 

8.         Add text.         Use the warped text tool to bend the text.

            Layer>Flatten Image.

 

 

Scarface Poster Effect

1. Open a headshot image (10%) in Photoshop.

 

2. Remove the background by using either the Magnetic Lasso Tool, or you may use the Filter>Extraction tools, or by any other means. Just want the headshot. (5pts)

 

3. Image>Adjustments>Desaturate

Image>Adjustments>Posterize (2 to 4 for some detail)

Image>Adjustments>Levels, as close to black and white without completely blanking out all the detail. You want it as close to black and white as you can get it. (5pts)

 

4. Open a NEW Photoshop document; 6 inches wide by 5 inches in height, RGB, 100 dpi, white background.

Add a new layer.

Using the Rectangle Marquee tool, make a selection that covers the left half of the layer, and fill with black. (5pts)

 

 

5. Add your image to the new one and center your image in the middle, half way on white and half on black. (5pts)

 

6. Font; Times New Roman, Bold, red color, and use the transform tools to enlarge it so half is on the black and half is on the white. Type SCARFACE (5pts)

 

7. On the left side there will appear the following text. Copy it to save yourself some typing.

With the following settings: Times New Roman, 22 pt, white color. Set to align left. (5pts)

8. On the right, there will be room for the movie credits, again, copy + paste: Set to align-right, black color, and Name font size should be around 14pt and their titles should be 8pt. (5pts)

9. Save as jpeg using the naming convention (5pts) of:  your last name_Scarface

Place the completed file in the dropbox.
