Expectations and OverviewProjects  |  Weekly Current Event Assignment Daily Assignments

TV Production / Mass Media can be a very rewarding class if energy and creativity is applied.  Because of this subject matter's inherent free-flowing nature, an undisciplined student will quickly find themselves behind in assignments without chance of recovery.  A strong desire to work is mandatory for success.  We are responsible for creating a 5 minute daily televised morning announcement program, filming dances and events and entering student competitions.

All assignments for the TV Production and Mass Media classes will be posted on the website the same day they are discussed in class.  The website posting will include an assignment number, an assignment description, an assignment due date and a point total.  All completed assignments are due no later than 2:40pm on the due date - no exceptions.

Because it is almost impossible to brainstorm, write, film, act, and post-produce a movie by yourself, groupwork fills up 75% of this class.  Find a group that you work well with, but remember, groups are not a permanent fixture.  Quite often, students that don't work find themselves in a group together because other groups won't have them.  Take pride in your work.

The main focus this semester will the the creation of a multimedia summary of your work in the class.  This will be done using Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver.  Your finished summary will integrate images, audio and video into a webpage built completely by you.  Keeping up with assignments will be crucial.
GRADING
This class works on the point system.  Students earn points two ways.  The first way is to turn assignments in before the due date.  The second way is to work each day on TV Production work.  Up to 5 points is given daily for continuous work during the 90 minutes of the class.  If continuous work is not observed, the student won't earn the maximum 5 points.

PROJECT NAMING
Projects MUST be labeled in the correct format to receive credit.  Each project description in my class will give the correct heading.  Projects not labeled correctly will not be graded.
RULES

1.  Be nice.  This includes to me and anyone else you ever make contact with.

2.  Be good.  We all do things we shouldn't.  Don't do those things in my class.

3.  Be on time.  The classroom door is locked when class begins.  I won't let you in if you're late.  Promise.

4.  Be honest.   You will be surrounded by thousands of dollars of equipment.  Karma - it's what's next.
