WELCOME TO MRS. DI DONATO'S SPANISH ANDFRENCH CLASSES. THE STUDENTS WILL REINFORCE THE FOUR BASIC SKILLS OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING, AND WRITING. THE STUDENTS WILL ALSO STUDY THE PEOPLE AND CULTURE OF SPANISH AND FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. STUDENTS WILL ALSO ENHANCE THEIR LEARNING THROUGH INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FOR ALL OF MY SPANISH STUDENTS.
SUGGESTED SUPPLIES FOR CLASS:
1. Three Ring Binder with notebook paper plus five dividers
2. Pen
MY FRENCH I STUDENTS WILL NEED THE BINDER, PAPER AND PEN, BUT NO DIVIDERS
GRADING:
The following components will account for the student's quarterly grade
1. Tests & Quizzes - 50% (Tests will be weighted more than quizzes)
2. Homework - 25% (Students start with a 100% and the grade will go down for each assignment that is missed.)
3. Orals /Participation in class - 25% (Levels I & II only). Students will start with a 75% and their grade will go up or down each week by 5 points.
4. Classwork - 25% (Español III & IV only).
POLICIES:
1. All school policies in the student handbook will apply in class.
2. Make-up work is the student's responsibility. If a student is in class when an assignment is given, it is due at the time of his return to class. If a student is in class when a test, quiz, or project date is announced, he is responsible for taking the test or quiz on the assigned date unless new material was taught while he was absent. If a student has an excused absence on the day of a test or quiz, he will have two days for each day absent to make-up the work(before or after school only). If a student is in IS, he must do the work that is given to him in IS and hand it into the proctor before leaving IS. Otherwise, he will receive a zero for his assignment that day. He will schedule time with me to make-up any tests that he may have missed.
3. Extra help days and make-up days will be posted at the beginning of each week on the whiteboard in the back of my room ( #557). They will also be posted on my web site. I am usually available in the mornings from 7:00 - 7:30 unless I have a meeting.
Please print the following contract agreement, fill it out, and return it to Mrs. DiDonato by Friday, January 27,2012. Students who do so will receive an A for their first quiz grade. For each day that the syllabus is late, the quiz grade will go down one letter grade.
We have read Mrs. DiDonato's expectations and we agree to comply with them.
