WORLD HISTORY COURSE 2008-2009
|
| COURSE DESCRIPTION: This semester course provides a general overview of World History. We will be exploring the cultural, geographical, economic and technological changes that have taken place in the world and that have helped shape guide mankind. |

| GENERAL COURSE GOALS: |
| |
- To help students understand and appreciate the nature of the various cultures of the world and to see how important aspects of these cultures have developed over time.
- To impress the importance of world cultures and how many of these have contributed to our own culture and continue to do so presently.
- To provide students with an understanding of change as a condition of human society, regardless of nationality, language, religion, geography, ethnicity or creed.
- To emphasize the importance of tolerance of diversity in others through the exploration of the various cultures of the world, their customs, traditions and way of life.
- To provide help in the development of critical thinking and study skill techniques required for success in a challenging and highly competitive global society.

- To respect the thoughts, words and deeds of others.
- To be on time to all classes and to attend each class everyday.
- To abide by all rules of behavior and conduct.
- To be diligent in making an honest effort to complete all assigned class work.
- To communicate with parents on all referrals, detentions and discipline concerns.
- To dress neatly, appropriately, be clean and well groomed.
- To understand and comply with the appropriate uses of online telecommunications and networks.
- To keep extracurricular activities from interfering with academic work and to know and follow the rules for the activities chosen.
- To be courteous, respectful and attentive to members of the administration, teachers, and coaches.
