There are several "Z" grades. If you have a "Z" it may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • papers/projects missing names
  • absences needing to be excused
  • work (tests/homework) needing to be made up
  • assignment was copied/plagiarized

All graded papers/projects will be returned on Monday. No name papers can be claimed at that time and returned for the grade to be recorded.

.

Please get your absences excused and make up work submitted ASAP.

If work was copied, the "Z" will be changed to a "0" after student/teacher conference and the zero will become permanent. There are no "do-overs" for cheating and/or presenting an assignment identical to another student's work!

EOC pg. 326 ATC #1-7 due Friday (after in class collaboration) 45 minutes

Test: Endocrine System

Know and be able to explain the following:

  • location of glands and their functions.
  • hormones secreted by each gland and its action.
  • role of pituitary as the "master gland"
  • result of hypersecretion and hyposecretion of each hormone

Test will have 2 parts:

Part 1: Multiple choice (20 questions)

Most will be directly related to hypo/hyper chart

Part 2: Be able to label the names of all the glands on a diagram.

This is the same as the Sketchbook assignment.

Be able to compare/contrast the nervous and endocrine systems.

In a Nutshell:

Both control the body.

Nervous System is fast-acting; impulse travel "electrically" through the body via nerves. Impulses "jump" over synapses between nerves.

Endocrine System is slow-acting; hormones excreted by ductless glands travel via the bloodstream to all parts of the body; acting on target glands and tissues which have special receptors. Diseases occur when the glands release too much (hypersecretion) or too little (hyposecretion) of the chemical messengers.
