Book Journal SS Presentation
Project overview:
Create a Book Journal that showcases your novel.The presentation will be in Keynote only and will be comprised of two parts. The first part will be presented
to the class as a way to create interest in your book. The remainder of the presentation will only be viewed
by me and will include information about the ending of your book.
This project will be completed during class time on four days only, so if you are absent or behind you will
need to arrange a time with me to come in before school so that you can complete your project within
two days after the day you return.
No late slide shows will be accepted.
The entire slide show will be 15 slides.
Project requirements:
Book must be a novel you read for this class, and may not be a book assigned for any other class or one thathas been made into a movie.
Use Keynote only.
Follow slide instructions below to create your presentation - stick to the order of
the slides.All work must be in your own words - NO amount of TEXT may be
copied and pasted into your presentation, not even if you change a few words!
Zeroes will be given for students who copy or use ANY information from another
student.
Choose a theme and stick to it. Please do not change the fonts from the theme.
Avoid resizing the fonts to be much larger or much smaller.
No creative colors or transitions, please!
Spell check every slide and have one person proofread for you.
Due date to turn in presentation to me is Friday, December 11. Slide show must be placed in thedigital drop box on that day 5 minutes before the end of your class period. You will present it to
the class the following week.
You will receive 200 points for the project itself and100 points for your presentation.
You will have more than enough time to complete this project in class, but if you
need extra time before school, ask me the day before.
Slides checklist:
slide 1:
(Title slide)
Include title, author, photo of book cover and your first and last name.
slide 2:
Setting
Include the setting of the story. This is the most important or most common setting. Try to find the geographic
location and include a map that shows the location where the story takes place. If a geographic location is
not identified anywhere in your novel, then include a generic piece of clip art that shows where the action
takes place (such as the mall, a home, school, etc.)
slide 3:
Main character
Include the name of the main character and create a list of the 10 most important words you associate with
that character. Think of the character’s personality, dreams, goals, feelings, description, etc., to help you analyze
him/her.
Think about what is unique about this character.
slide 4:
Supporting characters
List each one and give a brief description of the relationship to the main character.
slide 5:
Conflict
Include the conflict on this slide. How does it get started? Who else is involved?
What is it that the main character would like to have happen to resolve the situation? Also tell which TYPE of
conflict this is:
o person vs. person
o person vs. nature
o person vs. society
o person vs. self
slide 6:
(Advertisement)
Advertise your novel - explain why others should read this book. Tell the
class why this book is a MUST! Create a catchy title for this slide.

slides 7-11:
Main events
Summarize (in one or two sentences each) the 10 most significant
events in the action between the conflict and the resolution. Include two events per slide. Incorporate the feelings
of the main character about every event into what you write about each event. The main character’s emotions play
a big part in the plot. Mention WHY the main character feels that way about what happened.
slide 12:
Resolution
Include the resolution on this slide. How does the conflict get resolved?
Who is involved? Where and when does it happen? Does the main character get what he/she wanted at the
beginning of the novel? Explain.
slide 13:
Question 1
How do the events of the story change the main character? Did he/she learn anything about him/herself and/or
any life lessons? Give details and information from the story to support your answer.
slide 14:
Question 2
What did YOU learn about life from this book? Explain what events changed your thinking in some way.
slide 15:
Question 3
Explain how the story would have changed if YOU were the writer of the
novel. Be specific. Give details and information from the story to support your answer. “Nothing, it was really good,”
is not an appropriate response.
