Information for Parents

"No Child Left Behind (NCLB) federal legislation and Florida statute require that schools provide parents with an annual school status report at the beginning of each school year. The Florida Department of Education has produced a No Child Left Behind/School Public Accountability Report (NCLB/SPAR) for each school containing all the required NCLB indicators, including the indicator on Annual Yearly Progress (AYP). The NCLB/SPAR contains all the indicators required. A link to the report will be available on the Broward School Improvement Web page, (http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/schoolimprove/). Should you have any questions, please contact Mr. Caceres at (754) 322-1400".

PUBLIC DISPLAY OF STUDENT WORK
During the school year, students often produce work that may be displayed in public forums. This may include, but is not limited to, artwork, written documents, and Science or Social Studies projects. When displayed, the student’s name and school are sometimes given. If you do not want your child’s work displayed in such a manner, please notify your child’s teacher using this form.

TARDY Policy
Monarch's Philosophy- Academic success is directly correlated to attendance and tardies. Administrators, guidance counselors, security, teachers, students and parents must work together to make sure students are present and on time to each class of the day. The Broward County Public School's Tardy Policy is now in effect. Please refer to the Code of Student Conduct for further information.

ID Campaign
Students are required to wear (visible & above the waist) their current 2008/2009 Monarch High School ID card at all times while on campus. An ID is also required to attend many after school activities. See the Security Office to obtain an ID if you do not have one after the initial issue date.

Monarch High School is committed to providing the best educational opportunities for all of our students. The purpose of this application, if approved, is to provide laptop access to students who have a SBBC homework/assignment/project requirement and do not have computer access at home. Please be advised that these laptops will only be checked out on a “loan” basis for a limited period of time not to exceed two weeks.   "Loaner" Laptop Application

Volunteers

Students learn at home, in school, and in the community. Research shows that parent involvement is the single most important indicator of school success.
The staff of Monarch High School is committed to excellence in education and encourages parents to become involved in their students' education. There are opportunities for parent and community involvement at Monarch High School.

PARENT AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS
Parent volunteers are needed at Monarch High School to serve as mentors and tutors. Tutors and mentors are needed to assist students in preparation for FCAT, in learning English, and in exploring careers.
