Meetings are every Thursday right after school in room 369

Recycling bins for cans and bottles are now out around the picnic tables and courtyard.  Please encourage your friends to use them for cans and bottles and NOT for other garbage.  Thanks!

Important Dates:

Thursday, February 9, 2012.  Next club meeting 2:45.  Relay for Life is coming soon, March 30.  Our team name is Earth Guardians.  Please sign up to participate in this fantastic event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  Also please plan to stay after the meeting to help with recycling.

Saturday, March 10, 2012. Water Matters Day  Stay tuned for information about club plans for the 10th annual water matters day celebration tree giveaway at Treetops Park.

Friday, March 30, 2012. Relay for Life.  Our team name is Earth Guardians.  Fred Barbosa is our team captain.  More information soon!

Thursday, December 8, 2011.  Field trip to Monarch Hill Renewable Energy Park. 

Fantastic field trip!  Thanks to all who helped make sandwiches; and thanks to all our students who asked really good questions during the tours.

November 17, 2011: Presentation on recycling from "Mr. Recycle" right after the meeting in room 369.

November 15, America Recycles Day  - Don't pass it up, pick it up! Note that members of the recycling committee should come to room 369 right after school Tuesday for reycling pick up assignments.

October 22, 2011. Monarch Environmental Club joined Kids Ecology Corps to help restoration efforts at Snyder Park.

September 17, 2011.  Thanks to all of our members who participated in the Beach clean-up

   

 

 

International Day of Peace was September 21, "Pinwheels for Peace" at Monarch High School.  The visors decorated for peace, and with pinwheels were fantastic - thanks to all who participated!

2010-2011  Environmental Club Highlights:

 

Recycling collections on June 1, 6 and 8 resulted in over 16 cubic yards (several thousand pounds) of paper, pastic and cans for recycling - thanks to all who participated.

Our "green" house (with wind and solar power), built by club members for the "Pinwheels for Peace" celebration....

In April, we had a very educational and enlightening tour of the energy to waste facility and landfill on Wiles Road...
