Early Childhood ePortfolio

You will be required to assemble the components of the CDA Equivalency Resource File as part of your ePortfolio.  You may create your ePortfolio using webpages, Inspiration, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint or any combination of applications you are comfortable using.  You may group your information as follows:

The following can be grouped under Personal Identification:

•    Student picture identification
•    Birth certificate/ religious certificate – Proof of age 18 or older

The following can be grouped under the heading Personal Statements:

• Self Assessment – An in-depth autobiographical narrative about yourself and what factors have influenced your decision to work with young children.

•     A formal resume of education and work experiences.
•     Your teaching philosophy including statement of inclusion and multicultural perspectives.

The following can be grouped under Competency Statements:

•     Statement of competence – Six statements of competence must be written based on the Six Competency

             Goals.  Statements must demonstrate the student’s ability to meet the needs of children and families. 

             Each description should be 200-500 words in length and should focus on the student’s goals and

             objectives for children.  Specific examples must be included for the following Competency Goal:

The following can be grouped under Qualifications:

•     Three (3) letters of recommendation
•     45 certificate hours including the following:

           a.  20 Hour Introductory Child Care Training Course by Department of Children and Families

           b.  10 Hour Behavioral Observation and Screening in Child Care

           c.   One developmentally appropriate ten hour module – Young Children

           d.   One Five Hour Literacy Class
•     Broward County Preschool Teacher certification 450 Hour
•     Diploma from high school or equivalency
•     Supporting documents:

The following can be grouped under Research:

•     File of current research on nutrition
•     File of current research on safety
•     File of current research on health
•     File of current research on brain research
•     File of current trends in early childhood education
•     Sample pamphlets for parents with information about children’s growth and development
•     A list of local agencies that provide resources for children with disabilitie

The following can be grouped under Personal Classroom Policies:

•     Class rules or guidelines
•     Developmental schedule
•     Classroom floor plan
•     Newsletter

The following can be grouped under Multimedia Resources:

•     Summaries of (3) computer programs that you have used.
•     Information (bibliographic) about five books that support the development of gender identity. .  Books must          

         have copyrights less than ten years old.

•     Information (bibliographic) about three books that deal with different types of families. These may include

         any of the following: blended, separation, divorce, and remarriage. Books must have copyrights less than ten

          years old.

•     Music and words for three songs from different cultures

The following can be grouped under Lesson Plans & Projects:

•     Lesson plans for one activity for three different ages with explanation of how children of different ages will  benefit from the activity.

•     Art lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Sensory experiences lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Puppetry lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Manuscript and writing lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Math lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Science lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Social Studies lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Food and Nutrition lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Music and Movement lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Language Arts lesson plan and project for children five and under.
•     Felt Board Story lesson plan and project for children five and under.

•     Observation tool used for recording information about children’s behavior. One blank form and one completed

         form with all confidential information deleted.
